About
Honest tech career guidance
TechCerted exists because navigating a tech career should not require a tech career. We cut through the noise of conflicting advice, hype-driven bootcamp marketing, and outdated salary data to give you a clear, honest picture of what it actually takes to break into or advance in tech.
What we do
- Career roadmaps — step-by-step paths for roles like AI/ML Engineer, Cloud Architect, Cybersecurity Analyst, and more. Each roadmap includes timelines, costs, and the skills that actually matter.
- Certification guides — detailed breakdowns of every major tech cert including cost, difficulty, salary impact, study plans, and whether it is actually worth your time and money.
- Real salary data — compensation figures sourced from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Glassdoor, Levels.fyi, and other industry surveys. Not inflated marketing numbers.
- Platform comparisons — honest, side-by-side comparisons of learning platforms so you can pick the right one for your goals and budget.
How we work
Every recommendation on TechCerted is researched independently. We review course content, read student feedback, analyze certification pass rates, and cross-reference salary data from multiple sources before publishing. Our team has experience in tech hiring, education, and career development, which means we understand what employers actually look for and what certifications genuinely move the needle.
How we make money
TechCerted earns revenue through affiliate partnerships with education platforms. When you purchase a course through one of our links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This keeps TechCerted free to use. It does not influence our recommendations. Full details are on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
Who's behind TechCerted
TechCerted was founded by Julian Caraulani, a technologist and entrepreneur who has built products across AI, real estate, e-commerce, and education. After years of watching talented people get bad career advice from sites optimized for ad revenue rather than accuracy, he built TechCerted to be the resource he wished existed — data-first, honest, and free from the influence of whoever pays the highest commission.
Julian writes every guide, reviews every certification recommendation, and personally maintains the salary datasets that power the site. Every data point is sourced from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Glassdoor, Levels.fyi, and Stack Overflow surveys — never from marketing materials or self-reported averages.
